In 539 BC, King Belshazzar of Babylon, decided to give a big banquet, and he invited a thousand nobles to eat and drink wine with him at the king’s palace.  Belshazzar ordered that the wine be served in the gold and silver goblets that his grandfather, King Nebuchadnezzar, had taken from the Lord’s Temple in Jerusalem, before burning the temple and the city to the ground.

As all of the attendees drank wine from these sacred instruments, they began to give praise to the gods of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood and stone.  The banquet became an orgy of idol worship and blasphemy to Almighty God.

Suddenly, the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote some words on the plaster of the walls.  Everyone in the room witnessed this event.  And as the king watched, he became very frightened, his face turned pale, his knees knocked and his legs gave way (see Daniel 5:5-6).

Nobody in the room could understand the writing.  The king called in all of his wise men; the enchanters, astrologers, diviners, etc., but none could read the writing, nor determine its meaning.  Finally, the queen suggested the king send for the prophet Daniel.  Daniel had proven to be a man-of-God, and had accurately interpreted dreams for Belshazzar’s grandfather, King Nebuchadnezzar.

When Daniel viewed the writing he told the king, “The words written are these: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN.  And their message is this: ‘God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.  You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.  Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.’”

That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain, and Darius the Mede [Cyrus] took over the kingdom at the age of sixty-two (see Daniel 5:30).

Almighty God is a patient, loving God.  But it is foolish for anyone to believe that they can continually provoke, dishonor, disrespect, and disobey Almighty God . . . and never suffer the consequences of their sins.

And yet, that seems to be the thinking of the leaders of the Marxists-driven Democrat Party.  Instead of turning away from their evil agenda of abortion, same-sex marriage, and support for the LGBTQ+ homosexual lifestyle; they now are siding with the Arab-Palestinians and calling for punitive action against Israel for protecting their citizens from terrorist attacks, and defending the land that God gave to them.

God sees everything we do – no one can hide from God – wicked men/women can be struck down for turning their backs on God and rejecting God’s ways (see Job 34:21-28).  And those who blindly follow evil-minded leaders will not be exempt from God’s wrath.

Pray that the American people will come to their senses and get right with God before it’s too late.
