The Tulsa football team has been adapting to the hot and humid August weather as they continue fall practice.
“Things went well,” Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery said last Thursday. “It’s been three days in a row where we’ve had a little different weather each day.
“I thought our guys handled it really well. We kept our intensity all throughout practice and continued to take steps to get better.”
Montgomery talked about the consistency needed on both sides of the football.
“It’s good to see the give-and-take between offense and defense, but what we have to do on both sides is the create consistency,” said Montgomery.
“You want to be making plays offensively, but you’re going to have to do that in successions of drives.
“For you to continue to do that you have to go out and pick up first downs, and that’s what we’re focusing on right now.
“It’s the same thing defensively, you’re playing a couple good plays in a row, but you can’t have that one play where a mental lapse ends up costing you later. It’s all about consistency right now and fighting thru the regular fall camp grind.”
