Persecution of Christians is ramping up in Afghanistan after the Taliban has toppled the government following Joe Biden’s removal of U.S. forces.

According to a story in Breitbart, the Taliban is killing anyone in Afghanistan who has a copy of the Bible on their cellphones. According to SAT-7, a Christian broadcast group, the Taliban is using spies and informants to uncover Christians who are in the minority in that Muslim nation.

And they are killing them.

“We’re hearing from reliable sources that the Taliban demand people’s phones, and if they find a downloaded Bible on your device, they will kill you immediately,” said SAT-7 North America President Dr. Rex Rogers told Religion News Service. “It’s incredibly dangerous right now for Afghans to have anything Christian on their phones. The Taliban have spies and informants everywhere.”

Many Christian organizations with ties to Afghanistan are reporting similar horrors.

“Our brothers and sisters in Christ are telling us how afraid they are. In the areas that the Taliban now control girls are not allowed to go to school and women are not allowed to leave their homes without a male companion,” said Micah, a name assigned to him to protect his identity.

According to Open Doors World Watch List, Afghanistan was the most dangerous location for Christians in the world even before the Taliban regained control of the country.

The crime of apostacy – denouncing Islam for another faith – is punishable by death or imprisonment and confiscation of property. Men can be beheaded for trusting in Jesus.

This is inhumane and intolerable but don’t expect the United Nations or President Biden to take any meaningful action.

Please pray for the Christians left in Afghanistan.
