As I reflect on the Republican Platform for 2024 and the ongoing national concerns about abortion and marriage which were omitted from the platform, I have noticed that the platform is being criticized for abandoning Christian values as well as for having Christian values. I approve of the platform because it is agreeable with sound moral values.  It is very readable. There are 20 promises and 10 principles which when implemented as written what a wonderful country  we would have.  The  platform is admittedly for life, life of the country, life for families, and life for churches the bedrock of our country under God, where the brave and the free can teach and live a platform of Godly virtues.

There are those in our electorate who want to abort our nation decrying the religiosity our founders stood upon when our national documents were crafted. I rejoice that their faithful adherence to Christian moral values became the core values on which our country is founded and did flourish.  Alas, we are no longer that nation.

Presently 28 states are pro-abortion, 14 are pro-life and a struggle is going on as the remaining states fight for their causes.  How thankful we can be that this critical issue is given to the states to decide. I am grateful that Roe was overturned giving us hope as we battle for  a better nation. This victory came about by  Republican Party leadership and Donald J Trump the catalyst behind this achievement. Many celebrated, including myself, but not all. This issue threatens to divide our nation and bring upon us dire consequences. What will it take to unify us as we once were e pluribus unum…..? a hundred steps, a thousand steps in the right direction on the part of thousands or millions of citizens….perhaps.   Christians uniting and voting for our righteous cause…..yes.    America won’t be save with one election but winning this one will be a giant step forward. Ultimately America will be saved as it was first created, by an awakening to God, a change of hearts and a lot of hard work.

I highly recommend a book about the awakenings in America and the prayer mandate of 1 Timothy 2:1. It is First of All…..& the awakenings, by Dr Billye Brim. Because of these awakenings America became the nation described by Alexis De Tocqueville of France who toured America in 1831 and reported what he found. Below I have included his report as it is quoted in my The Founders Bible, page 1379.

“In 1831, Alexis De Tocqueville, a French statesman and historian, spent eight months traveling America and interviewing people from all walks of life, then he returned home to report what he had learned in a work now known as Democracy in America, he stated

Upon my arrival in the United States, the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there the more did I perceive the great political consequences resulting from this state of things, to which I was unaccustomed. In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom pursuing courses diametrically opposed to each other; but in America I found that they were intimately united, and that they reigned in common over the same country.

They brought with them into the New World a form of Christianity which I cannot better describe than by saying it a democratic and republican religion.  This sect contributed powerfully to the establishment of a democracy and a republic, and from the earliest settlement of the emigrants, politics and religion contracted an alliance which has never been dissolved.

Their is no country in the whole world in which the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America, and there can be no greater proof of its utility, and its conformity to human nature, than that its influence is most powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation on the earth.

Religion in America takes no direct part in the government of society, but it must nevertheless be regarded as the foremost of the political institutions of that country, for if it does not impart a taste for freedom it facilitates the use of free institutions……..I am certain that they hold it to be indefensible to the maintenance of republican institutions. This opinion is not peculiar to a class of citizens or to a party, but it belongs to the whole nation, and to every rank of society.

The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of Liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other.”

Let us be wise as serpents and harmless as doves for we are as sheep in the midst of wolves Matthew 10:16.   Is there not a cause.  Let us have faith, We must act, we must vote.
