Voters who want ballots mailed to them for various February 8 votes should apply now, according to Gwen Freeman, secretary of the Tulsa County Election Board.
There are races for Tulsa Public School Board, District 7; special propositions for Bixby and Jenks public schools; a municipal primary election for the City of San Springs City Council Wards 1 and w; a special PSO utility Franchise election for the City of Tulsa; City of Sapulpa Special Proposition election and a City of Bixby Special Promotion Election. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot is 5 p.m., Monday, January 24.
Voters can make a request at Oklahoma.gov/election/ovp and at oklahoma.gov/elections and at the Tulsa County Election Board Office at 555 N. Denver Ave.
“With some exceptions, all absentee ballots must be notarized before being returned,” Freeman said. “Voters should give themselves plenty of time to make sure all steps have been followed and that the ballot is returned correctly in order to be counted.”
Voters who are physically incapacitated, those caring for the physically incapacitated, individuals who can’t be left alone, and those confined in nursing homes can be exempt from having absentee ballots notarized.
All completed absentee ballots much be turned in to election officials no later than 7 p.m. on election day. Sample ballots are now available for the February 8 elections.
The county election office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
