Environmentalists and the mainstream news media are lying when they claim that natural gas is not clean.
It is.
About 40% of the generation of electricity in the United States is by natural gas.
The Environmental Information Administration rates natural gas as a relatively clean burning fossil fuel.
The people in the natural gas business – that’s a lot of folks in Tulsa and Oklahoma – are concerned about the environment because they live around where this energy is produced.
Producers work diligently to find and stop methane leaks. Most wells are checked at least once a month. Some companies have been so successful that they have eliminated as much as 70% of leaks in recent years.
And federal laws are strict when it comes to production of oil and natural gas.
America has more than 100 years’ or more of reserves of natural gas. Before Biden became president, America was energy independent under President Trump.
If Trump were in office, America could be exporting natural gas products to Europe and lessening or eliminating Europe’s dependence on Russia energy. That would put Europe – and Ukraine – in a better position. It would help our balance of trade and strengthen the dollar.
Every form of energy has its drawbacks. Wind power is inconsistent and it kills wildlife. Solar power doesn’t work when it’s cloudy and batteries are pollutants. Nuclear energy has waste issues.
Natural gas is an important part of the energy package for America. More answers would be found if the media stopped lying about that industry.
