For decades, the majority of Americans could agree about one aspect of legalized abortion.

American taxpayers shouldn’t pay for it.

That value was embedded in the Hyde Amendment, which has bi-partisan pro-life language. Even President Biden while in the U.S. Senate supported the Hyde Amendment, which was passed in 1976.

The Hyde Amendment has been part of every appropriations bill since 1976. And the Weldon Amendment, which was passed in 2005, protects doctors, nurses and other health care professionals from participating in abortions if they have a moral objection. They always had support of Republicans and Democrats.

Now that principle is under assault.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer, with a razor-thin majority in the House and a 50-50 split in the Senate, have cut the Hyde Amendment from the appropriations bill.

This is a sneaky attempt to open the floodgates for the federal government to finance the killing of innocent unborn babies. And it is a blatant attempt to force Americans of good conscience to violate their values by unwilling forcing them to pay for abortion.

Every Republican in the House of Representatives has asked that the Hyde Amendment be restored.

U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, R-Oklahoma, filed an amendment to restore Hyde and Weldon amendment language that is traditionally under the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Bill for.

The liberal news media touts statistics that show that abortions have declined in America. While it is true that surgical abortions have slipped, chemical abortions are on the upswing.

Tulsa now has two abortion clinics instead of one and Oklahoma City has four.

If abortions become federally funded, look for an explosion of abortions tragically funded for minorities and poor women. Progressives secretly see this funding as population control.

Joe Biden is doing a lot of damage in a short time. If he helps Congress pay for abortions, his liberalism will cost the lives of millions of unborn babies.
