The University of Tulsa lost another nonconference football game as the Southland Conference canceled fall football. That leaves Tulsa with 10 football games on its schedule in 2020.

Tulsa was scheduled to host Northwestern State on September 19 but that game is canceled.

Tulsa has only lost on previously scheduled game, a home contest against Toledo. Oklahoma State has chosen to play the Golden Hurricane in Stillwater on September 12 for the Cowboys’ lone nonconference battle. The other nonconference game is at Arkansas State on Sept. 26. The Sun Belt will play as many of its scheduled games as possible, the league announced.

TU already opened fall camp but took off two days earlier this month after death of coach Philip Montgomery’s 76-year-old mother, Sandra Jean, whose lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s prompted the Montgomerys to advocate for Alzheimer’s awareness and raise thousands of dollars in her name. She was laid to rest in Eastland, Texas.
