The Oklahoman, the state’s largest newspaper, is part of a sale to New York-based Gatehouse Media. The sale closed October 1.
Gatehouse Media publishes 145 daily publications in 37 states.
Some of their papers are in Shawnee, Oklahoma; Bartlesville, Oklahoma; North Little Rock, Arkansas; Stockton, California; Daytona Beach, Florida; Jacksonville, Florida; Gainesville, Florida; Savannah, Georgia; Springfield, Illinois; Topeka, Kansas; Hutchinson, Kansas; Salina, Kansas; Worchester, Massachusetts; Nantucket, Massachusetts; Columbia, Missouri; Middleton, New York; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; Erie, Pennsylvania; Providence, Rhode Island; Sherman, Texas; Petersburg, Virginia; and Austin, Texas.
The company has a “Center for News and Design” in Austin with 305 workers and serves 90 daily newspapers and 203 weekly newspapers. The Oklahoman, NewsOK, Big Wing and The Oklahoman Direct are part of the sale. GateHouse owns the The Journal Record in Oklahoma City.
The previous owner was the Anschutz Corp. of Denver, Colorado.
