Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields started a petition demanding the Big Ten immediately reinstate the 2020 football season, a petition that had more than 104,000 signatures as of Sunday.

The petition argues that players think the safety protocols are sufficient to deal with the level of danger from the coronavirus. And the petition said players and teams should make the decision about whether it is safe or not safe to play.

Fields, a potential Heisman Trophy winner, is projected to be a first-round draft pick by the NFL  Some of the parents of Nebraska football players are formally objecting to the cancelation of the fall season. At least 50 parents are expected to sign a letter to the Big Ten Commissioner asking for reconsideration of the decision.
