Oklahoma leads the nation in a WalletHub report, “States Whose Unemployment Claims Are Recovering the Quickest.”

Even though many states have been hit by a surge in COVID-19 cases, new unemployment claims decreased week-over-week on November 23. In Oklahoma, the recovery was particularly good, as there were 9% fewer claims that week versus the same week last year.

There are 11.1 million Americans unemployed due to the pandemic in total. In late November, there were 712,000 new unemployment claims , which is a lot fewer than the 6.9 million during the peak of the pandemic (a 90% reduction).
