Our guest speaker this month is Oklahoma State Sen. Dana Prieto who represents Senate District 34. The 9.12 June meeting will be at Spirit Life Church, 5345 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa, at 6:30 p.m. on June 8.
As a freshman Senator, Prieto has a unique perspective on the State Legislature, and the Senate in particular. He will share his insights, discuss his victories, and comment on the challenges he has faced during his first year in the Senate.
We will also discuss how we as activists can assist Sen. Prieto and other conservative members of the legislature in supporting and passing legislation that protects the rights of Oklahomans and restrains the overreach of government.
Dana is a native of Amherst, New York and moved to Oklahoma in 1991 to attend Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow. He also studied web design at Tulsa Community College and is the owner and operator of Everlasting Enterprises, an online marketing company for small businesses.
The grandson of immigrants, Prieto has an abiding love of American freedoms, citizenship, education, and history. While still in grade school, he became an avid reader of books on early explorers and outdoors men. Learning that the American West was opened by early explorers and trappers scouting out new territory, he was inspired to learn the art of trapping. That fascination also led him to work for a while as a lumberjack.
If you have visited Sen. Prieto’s office at the Oklahoma State Capitol, you have seen the memorabilia he displays from his time trapping and bee keeping. You are also very likely to have met his wife, Judy, and his daughter, Sarah, who both worked tirelessly on Prieto’s campaign.
Dana and Judy are the parents of two grown daughters and have two grandchildren.
Be sure to bring a friend Thursday!
