An Oklahoma City abortion clinic is suing the state to overturn two laws intended to slow down the number of babies aborted in the state.

South Wind Women’s Center (abortion clinic) of Oklahoma City and two abortion doctors asked The Center for Reproductive Rights (abortion) to file the suit.

In 2012, Oklahoma passed a law that bans the use of telemedicine for chemical abortions. It mandates that a licensed physician be present when the abortion pills are administered.

The suit claims it is discriminatory because other medical procedure don’t require a doctor be present.

The other state law being tested is the one that requires that abortions be done only by licensed doctors. The suit wants that changed so that nurses and other medical personnel can perform abortions.

This is the sixth lawsuit against Oklahoma abortion restrictions that has been filed in recent years.
