Oklahoma got 54 points from three guards to defeat LSU, 83-67, on Saturday evening at Pete Maravich Assembly Center. It was OU’s largest margin of victory in an SEC road game in its two years in the conference.
The Sooners have won four of their last six games and are now 15-14, 5-11 in the SEC, while the Tigers dropped to 15-14, 3-13 SEC.
For the Sooners, Nijel Pack scored a game-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers. Pack has scored at least 20 points in six of the last 10 games and has made at least five 3-pointers in nine games this season. Xzayvier Brown was 6-for-10 from the field and made all six of his free throws to finish with 20 points. Dayton Forsythe also went 6-for-6 from the free throw line and totaled 13 points off the bench.
Oklahoma outshot LSU 47% to 35% from the field, and 38% (10-of-26) to 26% (6-of-23) from 3-point range. The Sooners also shot a season-high 94% (17-of-18) from the free throw line.
LSU scored the game’s first five points, but OU countered with the next 10 and took a 20-11 lead with 12:30 left in the first half. OU held a 41-33 lead at halftime.
After the Tigers pulled to within five points at 53-48 with 13:24 to go in the second half, Oklahoma took control of the game with an 18-4 run to go up 71-52 with 7:48 remaining. OU had a 22-point lead with 5:54 remaining in the game.
Oklahoma won the turnover category, 8 to 10, and outscored the Tigers 13-9 off turnovers.
OU wrapped up the regular season at home against Missouri on Tuesday and will now look ahead to the SEC tournament, which begins on March 11 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
