U.S. Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford, both Oklahoma Republicans, will join President Trump’s Opening Up America Again Congressional Group. Ninety-seven members of Congress from both sides of the aisle were asked to be part of the group. The President says he is getting ready to provide guidance to governors to determine their state’s ability to “reignite the economies in their respective States.”
Among the discussions were additional funds for the Paycheck Protection Program, supply chain needs, surprise medical billing, rapidly expanding access to COVID-19 tests and medical equipment.
“ I said at the start of this crisis, reopening the nation is much harder than closing the nation,” Lankford said. “Reopening business and personal travel require specific data that is difficult to track, and it involves a risk that can always be second-guessed.”
“Before I came to the Senate, I was a builder and developer—so I know the questions and fears small business owners are having right now,” Inhofe said. “Just a few weeks ago, we had the best economy of my lifetime because of President Trump. I know that, because of his leadership during this crisis, the economic recovery will be as fast as possible as we win the war against the virus.”
