Coming off a disappointing loss at home on Thursday night, the ORU Golden Eagles turned things around to defeat North Dakota, 83-79, Saturday evening at the Mabee Center.

ORU picked up its fifth win of the season and improved to 5-11 overall, 1-2 in Summit League play, while UND dropped to 7-12, 1-3.

It was a tight game throughout and although the Fighting Hawks led for most of the first eighteen minutes, ORU put together a 7-0 run to close the half and led 43-42 at halftime.

The second half continued to be back-and-forth as there were six different lead changes and neither team could extend a lead past six points.

ORU led by three points with 1:49 remaining. Isaac McBride iced the game with a three-point jump shot to put ORU ahead by six with nine seconds left on the clock. UND scored one final bucket on a layup by Eli King as time expired.

The Golden Eagles were led by McBride with 28 points, while JoJo Moore scored a career-high 26 and led the team with six rebounds.

UND’s Amar Kuljuhovic had 17 points and 6 rebounds, Treysen Eaglestaff had 15 points with four rebounds, and Mier Panoam added 13 points and 6 rebounds.

ORU won the battle on the boards, outrebounding the Fighting Hawks 32-29 and scoring 50 points in the paint to UND’s 38.

ORU’s 140-game streak of making five-or-more threes a game has come to an end, as the Golden Eagles only managed three in this game. It was the longest active streak in the country and is the third-longest streak in NCAA history.

The Golden Eagles are on the road this week and play at South Dakota on Thursday and then visit South Dakota State on Saturday.
