Head men’s basketball coach Paul Mills has been tapped as a finalist for both the Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year award and the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award.

The Hugh Durham award is awarded to coaches at a Division 1 Mid-Major school, who have acheived winning programs at 3 different universities.  The conferences that are included in this category (Mid-Major) are America East, ASUN, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, MEAC, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, SWAC, Summit, Sun Belt, WAC, West Coast.

The Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award is for Division 1 coaches nationwide.

Coach Mills has coached his team this year to go undefeated in conference play, the only team in Division 1 this year to do so.  They were awarded with a 12 seed to go to the NCAA tournament.
