Oral Roberts was led by Ty Harper’s career-high 29 points to defeat South Dakota, 67-62, on Saturday evening at the Mabee Center.
With the win, ORU improved to 7-22 overall and 2-12 in the Summit League, while the Coyotes dropped to 14-15, 6-8 Summit League.
The Golden Eagles opened the first half by taking a 9-6 lead and then went on a 7-0 run to increase their lead to 16-6. ORU led 35-31 at halftime.
South Dakota cut ORU’s lead to one point, 59-58, with 4:06 left to play, but the Golden Eagles never gave up the lead in the second half and outscored the Coyotes 8-4 down the stretch hold on to the victory.
Ofri Naveh added 13 points, six rebounds and two steals for the Golden Eagles.
South Dakota was led by Cameron Fens who scored 25 points and Uzziah Buntyn who added 13.
ORU outrebounded South Dakota, 40-31, and the Golden Eagles won the turnover category, 12-14.
ORU will host the Denver Pioneers at the Mabee Center this evening (Thursday) for Senior Night at 7:00 p.m.
