Oral Roberts University defeated the Northern Colorado Bears in three straight games this past weekend at J.L. Johnson Stadium, in Tulsa. The Golden Eagles recorded their third consecutive series sweep and are off to their best start (12-0) in Summit League play since beginning 20-0 in 2004.

In Friday’s opening game of the series, ORU was led by a strong performance on the mound by Jakob Hall, as the Golden Eagles run-ruled Northern Colorado, 10-0, in eight innings. The shutout marked the second of the season for the Golden Eagles.

Hall collected his fourth win of the year after throwing seven scoreless innings, along with seven strikeouts. On the offensive end, Mac McCroskey led all players with four RBI after finishing 2-for-4 for the game.

ORU came away with a 12-6 victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday afternoon.

Harley Gollert notched the win on the mound after striking out seven over 5.1 innings of work. Closer Cade Denton picked up his league-leading ninth save of the season after tossing three scoreless frames to go along with three strikeouts.

Redshirt senior Mac McCroskey went deep for the fifth time in his last five contests and finished the day 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and two RBI. For the second straight game, Justin Quinn went 3-for-4 at the dish with an RBI. The senior’s three hits were tied for a game-best.

In the series finale on Sunday, McCroskey homered for the third consecutive game and sixth time in the last six contests as Oral Roberts run-ruled Northern Colorado, 13-3, in eight innings for its seventh straight victory.

With the win, the Golden Eagles record improved to 27-10 overall (12-0 The Summit League).

McCroskey became the first Golden Eagle to record three straight games with a home run since Spencer Henson accomplished the feat in 2019. The redshirt senior finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate to go along with three RBI and two walks.

Catcher Jacob Godman matched McCroskey with three RBI on the afternoon after going 2-for-3 at the dish. Justin Quinn notched his fourth straight multi-hit performance with a 2-for-5 day at the plate and belted his second homer in as many games. First baseman Jake McMurray recorded his third three-hit performance of the season and drove home two runs on the afternoon, while Sam Thompson reached base safely in all four plate appearances.

On the mound, Brooks Fowler earned the win after allowing two runs, both unearned, over five innings of work. The sophomore also struck out six on the day. In relief, Jacob Widener struck out three of the four batters he faced in a scoreless appearance.
