Oral Roberts swept a three-game series at Omaha, to extend their season record to 21-15, 10-6 in Summit League play.
Rain on Thursday forced game one to be suspended and completed as part of a double header on Friday. The game was halted in the top of the eighth inning with two runners on base and two outs. ORU was leading 7-6. In the conclusion of that game on Friday afternoon, ORU scored in each of the last three innings to take the series opener over Omaha by a final of 8-6.
Will Edmunson extended his hit streak to 15 games, going 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and a walk in the win.
Easton Teel (4-1) earned the win on the mound and has gone at least six innings in all five starts this season. Jared Ure got the nod to finish off the final two innings of game one, and he got the Mavericks to go six up, six down, picking up his second save of the season in securing the win.
In the regularly scheduled game on Friday night, Omaha took advantage of four ORU errors to defeat the Golden Eagles, 5-2.
Will Edmunson extended his hit streak to 16 games, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Omaha began the game with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on one more in the third, jumping out in front 3-0. The Mavericks starting pitcher, Ben Weber (2-4) earned the win by pitching seven innings, giving up six hits, two runs, one walk and seven strike outs.
ORU won the final game of the series on Saturday, 8-5, behind some power hitting. The Golden Eagles blasted a season high four homers in the game. It was the most in a game since March 18th, 2023, when they did it against St. Thomas.
ORU scored a single run in the first inning as Cooper Combs went deep for the sixth time this season.
Both teams were quiet on offense with good starting pitching from both sides, but ORU got going again in the top of the fifth. Jack Schark came to the plate with two runners on base and hit a home run into the ORU bullpen beyond the left field fence for his sixth homer of the season, making it a 4-0 ballgame.
Ethan Fender hit a solo shot in the sixth, his fourth of the season, and Keaton Campbell blasted a three-run shot in the seventh inning, his second of the year, to make it 8-0.
Omaha battled back in the home half of the seventh inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs on six hits to get back within striking distance, but the comeback fell short.
ORU will host Summit League opponent, St. Thomas, in a three-game series beginning Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Chapman Park.
