COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Oral Roberts indoor track and field team dominated the Alexis Jarrett Invitational at the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse, tallying eight event victories and multiple stellar performances in a strong showing against top regional competition.
Wenger and Rutledge Shine in Men’s High Jump
Freshman Jordan Wenger continued his remarkable season, winning the men’s high jump with a leap of 2.06m. His jump moves him to second all-time in ORU history, trailing only Demarcus Bass’ 2.15m mark from 2006. Fellow freshman Kellen Rutledge claimed the runner-up spot with a 2.03m jump, which places him third in the Golden Eagles’ record books.
Magake, Smithwick Lead Men’s Distance
Artwell Magake delivered standout performances in both the men’s mile and 3000m. He placed second in the mile with a personal-best 4:10.10, making him the third-fastest Golden Eagle in program history. Magake also took the crown in the 3000m with a time of 8:31.18, narrowly beating teammate Andrew Smithwick, who finished second in 8:36.74.
Kapambalala Sprints to Victory
Sophomore Lukundo Kapambalala emerged victorious in the men’s 60m dash, clocking 6.78 to outpace a field that included six Summit League competitors from Kansas City. His time is the fifth-fastest in ORU history, further solidifying his place as one of the conference’s premier sprinters.
Granderson Claims Men’s 400m Title
In a thrilling men’s 400m final, Solomon Granderson edged Missouri’s Izaiah Hill by just 0.01 seconds to claim the victory with a time of 49.36.
800m Dominance for ORU
The Golden Eagles showcased their depth in the men’s 800m, sweeping the top five positions. Jaxson Brooks led the charge with a winning time of 1:56.05, followed by Alex Keter (1:56.32), Nicodemus Rotich (1:58.36), Jonah Marvine (1:58.81), and Alex Leshan Ntiyani (1:59.53).
The women’s 800m saw similar success, with Rushell Johnson (2:17.69) and Deborah Mazzei (2:19.94) finishing first and second, respectively. Johnson’s time ranks as the eighth-fastest in ORU history.
Women’s 3000m Sweep
The Golden Eagles swept the top four spots in the women’s 3000m, led by Ossly Murambidzi’s winning time of 10:16.60, which ranks fifth in ORU history. Teammates Avery Mazzei, Madeline Cabana, and Zoie Kiddy rounded out the dominant showing.
