No. 4 seed ORU will play No. 5 seed Omaha at 6 p.m. Sunday in the first round of the Summit League’s Championship in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The game will be on ESPN+.

ORU lost to Omaha, 67-74, in January in Omaha but beat Omaha 81-78 Feb. 12 in Tulsa.

With a win, ORU will play the winner of the No. 1 seeded North Dakota State and No. 8 seeded Denver on Monday at 8 p.m. ORU split with North Dakota State and Denver this year.. The Golden Eagles (16-13, 9-7 in the Summit League) ended the regular season Saturday with a 72-66 home win over Purdue Fort Wayne.

Max Abmas and R.J. Fuqua each had 20 points for ORU. Emmanuel Nzekwesi finished the game with a dramatic dunk.

“For Emmanuel to have an exclamation point like that to end his career at ORU playing at home, that was obviously pretty cool. Now, playing in the conference tournament you get the ability to try and win and play in March Madness,” said coach Paul Mills.

The winner of the Summit League gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
