Oral Roberts took two out of three games against North Dakota State, at Newman Outdoor Field, in Fargo, N.D., over the weekend.

In the Friday opener, Golden Eagles’ starter Easton Teel threw seven innings, giving up four hits, one unearned run, one walk, and striking out four, in the pitchers’ duel.

The Bison scored their only run in the bottom of the first inning on an ORU error in left field. ORU struck back in the top of the second as Makani Tanaka doubled with one out and came around to score two batters later on a wild pitch to tie the game.

The game was tied 1-1 going to the 10th inning, and ORU scored a run in the top of the 10th as Cooper Combs hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track in left field, scoring Martell Davis and giving the Golden Eagles the lead.

Dalton Patten struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

On Saturday, NDSU put on a power performance with a pair of homers to beat the Golden Eagles, 8-4.

The Bison got started the scoring in the first inning, with a two-run homer by Sam Canton. Colten Becker hit a home run in the fourth inning to give NDSU a 3-0.

The Bison then scored four runs in the sixth inning, on a trio of defensive lapses by the Golden Eagles, extending their lead to 7-0.

ORU tried to battle back in the game by scoring four times in the top of the seventh, but that was all for the Golden Eagles.

In the third game of the weekend on Sunday, North Dakota State came from behind to force an extra inning, and ORU scored in the top of the 10th to win 9-8.

The Golden Eagles’ Jack Schark had a great day at the plate, belting his seventh homer of the season and hitting an RBI double in the game.

In the third inning, ORU hit back-to-back homers for the second time this season with a two-run homer by Schark and Makani Tanaki hitting a solo shot, his fourth of the season. The Bison would get a second run back in the bottom of the third.

ORU jumped out to an 8-2 lead through four innings, before the Bison began to whittle away at the lead. NDSU scored one in the fifth, two in the seventh and three in the ninth, to send the game to the 10th inning tied 8-8.

Freshman right-hander Brendan Asher tossed 6.0 innings for the second straight time, allowing eight hits, three runs, no walks, and striking out a career high six batters.

ORU improved to 27-18, 14-9 Summit League, while NDSU dropped to 16-28, 12-12 Summit League. The Golden Eagles will be home this weekend to host Northern Colorado in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Chapman Park.
