South Dakota State used a solid shooting performance in the first half to jump out to a big lead and cruise to a 95-72 win over the ORU Golden Eagles on Saturday in Brookings, S.D.

ORU fell to 5-19 on the season and 0-9 in Summit League play. South Dakota is now 11-12 overall, 4-4 Summit League.

The Jackrabbits made 24-of-37 shots (64.9%) from the field and 8-of-13 (61.5%) from beyond the arc in the first half. SDSU led 58-39 at halftime.

SDSU scored the first bucket of the second half, before ORU went on a 9-0 run to cut the Jackrabbits’ lead to 12 points, 60-48, with 15:29 left to play. SDSU outscored ORU 35-24 the rest of the way.

ORU had three players finish in double figures, led by Ty Harper, who had a career-high 26 points, his eighth 20-point performance of the year. Cal Furnish added a career-high 12 points off the bench while Luke Gray contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Chase Martin was active in the game with seven points, seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks.

For SDSU, Joe Sayler and Jaden Jackson each scored 24 points to lead the Jackrabbits. Kalen Garry added 14 and Damon Wilkenson scored 12.

The Jackrabbits outrebounded the Golden Eagles, 45-34, with 16 second chance points to ORU’s 10.

The Golden Eagles will visit St. Thomas this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on the Summit League Network and on 99.9 FM.
