Despite Ofri Naveh recording the first double-double of his career, ORU men’s basketball team fell 73-62 to the Omaha Mavericks, at the Mabee Center Saturday night.
Naveh racked up 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles. Connor Dow and Ty Harper each added 13 points, along with Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams, who tacked on 10 points for ORU.
Omaha led 24-16 before ORU went on a 6-0 run with 6:59 left in the first half, to cut the Mavericks lead to two points. Omaha continued to take charge of the game and built 36-30 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Omaha extended its lead to 43-32 before ORU went on a 7-0 run, to keep the game close at 43-39 with 16:55 remaining in the contest. Omaha outscored the Golden Eagles the rest of the way.
The Mavericks were led by Paul Djobet who scored 25 points and hauled in seven rebounds.
The Golden Eagles will host North Dakota Fighting on Thur., Jan. 22, and North Dakota State on Sat., Jan. 24. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
