In the final AP Poll, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma were both ranked in the Top 10 for just the second time in history.
OSU finished ranked No. 7 in the football poll and OU was No. 10. The only other season in which both were in the Top 10 in the final poll was 1984. OU was No. 6, OSU was No. 7.
National champion Georgia was No. 1, Alabama was No. 2, Michigan was No. 3, Cincinnati was No. 4 and Baylor was No. 5.
OSU beat Notre Dame 37-35 in the Fiesta Bowl and OU beat Oregon 47-32 in the Alamo Bowl.
