Cade Cunningham poured in 20 points and Oklahoma State slipped past No. 18 Texas Tech, 74-69, Monday night Stillwater.

The Cowboys swept the series from the Red Raiders. Oklahoma State also beat Texas Tech in overtime on Jan. 2.

 Cunningham, the Big 12’s leading scorer,  made 8 of 13 shots and had five rebounds.

Kalib Boone scored 18 points and Avery Anderson III added 16 for the Cowboys (15-6, 8-6 Big 12).  OSU rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit with Cunningham on the bench with four fouls. Cunningham committed his fourth foul three minutes into the second half.

“I think what it says is we have a really good team,” said OSU coach Mike Boynton said. “Maybe those other guys aren’t as high in terms of their ceiling. I don’t think you’ll see them next year in an NBA uniform. They are some really gritty, really good college basketball players on our roster.”

Anderson said Boynton gave the team confidence that it could rally.

“Stick to what we do and keep getting stops and shots are going to fall,” Anderson said. “And that’s what happened. We just kept getting stops on the defensive end.”

Cunningham had 21 points, five rebounds and seven assists while Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe tossed in 17 and Oklahoma State beat Iowa State 76-58 on February 17. Cunningham and Kalib Boone combined to made 14 of 20 field goals for Oklahoma State, while Iowa State was held to 19-of-57 shooting (33.3%). Boone finished with 15 points for Oklahoma State (14-6, 7-6 Big 12 Conference). The Cowboys won their fourth straight in the series, their longest since 2009-11.

Cunningham, averaging 18.5 points per game as a freshman, scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the first half — including three 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds and four assists. The Cowboys shot 50% in the half to help build a 42-30 lead.

Jalen Coleman-Lands scored 17 points and Bolton had 15 points and six rebounds for Iowa State (2-15, 0-12).

“OSU was supposed to play at Baylor on February 20 but that game was postponed due to coronavirus issues at Baylor. OSU will close their regular season with two games versus Oklahoma on Saturday and Monday.
