Oklahoma State, the No. 2 seed, won the Big 12 Tournament title Saturday night by defeating the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners, 9-3, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Tex.

It is the 35th conference championship in program history for the Cowboys, and the fourth Big 12 tournament title: their first since 2019.

OSU is now 40-17 on the season and earns an automatic bid to an NCAA Regional. It is the Cowboys 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

It was only the second loss in the last 13 games for OU, who now have an overall record of 37-19.

OSU was led in the championship game by their power hitters, with home runs coming from Nolan Schubart, Kollen Ritchie and Ian Daugherty. Shubart was 2-for-4 with a game-high three RBIs. Lane Forsythe added three hits in the game.

Gabe Davis earned the win in relief of starter Tommy Molsky to improve to 2-4 on the year as he worked 2.2 innings and struck out two while allowing one run on two hits.

The Cowboys jumped out to an early lead with one run in the top of the first inning and added three runs in the fifth.

The Sooners scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a John Spikerman double, followed by a sacrifice fly.

OSU scored three runs in the seventh inning off a Shubart blast, his 20th homer of the season, making him the first Cowboy to reach the 20-homer plateau in a season since Trevor Boone in 2019. The Cowboys added two solo homers in the eighth inning to pad their lead.

OSU is now 4-1 against the Sooners this season, and head coach Josh Holliday owns a career 37-14 record against the Cowboys’ Bedlam rival.

To get to the title game, OSU beat Texas Tech, 7-2, then lost to UCF, 7-6 in 10 innings. The Cowboys had to then climb their way back through the losers’ bracket by beating Texas Tech again, 4-0, and UCF, 10-1, to move into the championship game against the Sooners.

For the Sooners, their route to the title game came a bit easier. OU beat Kansas 4-0, then beat TCU 7-5 and 8-6, to advance to the title game against Oklahoma State.

Three Cowboys were awarded spots on the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team, Carson Benge, Schubart, and Sam Garcia. Benge was named the Most Outstanding Player.

OU had a league-high seven players named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team: Easton Carmichael, Braden Davis, Anthony Mackenzie, Jackson Nicklaus, Kendall Pettis, Grant Stevens and Jaxon Willits.
