OSU running back L.D. Brown is a preseason candidate for the 2021 Doak Walker Award, announced by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum.

Brown is one of 82 players listed as a preseason candidate for the award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.

One of six Cowboy seniors from 2020 who elected to stay and play an extra season following the NCAA eligibility ruling around COVID-19, Brown has served as the primary backup for NFL talents Justice Hill and Chuba Hubbard throughout his career.

Although he has only made one start, he is one of the fastest players on the Cowboy roster. His career highlights include three 100-yard rushing games, five 50-plus yard carries, eight rushing touchdowns, more than 1,000 career rushing yards and a career average of 5.7 yards per carry. In the classroom, Brown is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 team member and is working toward a master’s degree in recreation and leisure management.
