“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV Version)

This verse is an If/Then contract. If the conditions that must be met. Then is what will result if the conditions are met. The then in this case would be fabulous.

The first condition is who must meet the condition. This is, “if My people.” Not all the people, not who many think are the real problem. It’s His people.

I am a Christian. I accept that I am therefore one who is being targeted – even more so by the name – Christian leader from Christ. I am equipped to meet the conditions.

I am required to be humble – to humble myself. This means that I am not privileged but responsible to God. It also indicates what needs to happen or what God will do. It is beyond us without His OK or action.

I and my ilk must pray. Get honest with God, seeking His action for our nation and with His acceptance.

The prayer needs to be real, seeking God earnestly, not just saying our prayers but really seeking Him.

And seek forgiveness for our sin. This means real honesty about who we are, what we do and are our sins and asking forgiveness.

The last conditions were to change – to turn from our wicked ways. It’s us who need to change. This should be the result of humbling ourselves, praying, seeking God and asking forgiveness.

This is the part that I find easy to forget but cannot be forgotten. It is we who must change for the land to be healed. We can’t wait for others to change – it must be us.

Humble prayer and fasting, accepting who has the power, who has the determination on how we live, who forgives us and who is to be obeyed as His people, I am responsible and I must meet conditions. I am not above others but a servant to others and doing my part to help satisfy the If that will bring a great blessing to all Americans.

Thy will be done. Amen.
