Growing facial hair around your mouth is a pride factor that in most cases makes you less desirable for good employment, plus it is a negative for elective office. It is often a distraction, like lettuce stuck between your teeth.

It is true that in the presidential election of 1948 between Harry S. Truman and Thomas Dewey that was so close, there were many factors. One factor, given by market research textbooks was Dewey’s mustache.  He lost by a whisker.

Without the mustache, Dewey would have won.

Any wish for the military, law enforcement, company promotion, being an anchorman on TV or a weatherman even in today’s culture usually requires a clean shaven face.

Given the above, it is difficult to understand why any parent would encourage facial hair for their sons. That is often followed by tattoos, ear rings in this growing LGBT culture. The best place to find pictures of men with facial hair is on mug shots or on the FBI’S 10 Most Wanted List.

There are tons of exceptions. Remember the teen whose dad would not let him drive the car unless he cut his hair. The teen said, “Jesus had long hair.” The dad replied, “Yes, and he also walked everywhere.”
