Branson shows delayed

With a national emergency declared by President Trump and a state of emergency declared by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson, many of the shows and attractions of Branson have come to a halt.

Branson has about nine million visitors each year and the coronavirus pandemic could have a deep impact on the show town.

Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Attractions, on their website stated that they are delaying the opening of Silver Dollar City theme park and suspended operations of the Showboat Branson Belle. The Silver Dollar City Campground is still open.

“For our loyal 2020 season pass holders, we will be adding additional benefits and operating days to be announced as we get closer to a firm opening date,” Thomas wrote. “Our pass holders are very important to Silver Dollar City Attractions and to our employees.  As a 2020 season pass holder, please rest assured we will take care of you and your family.”

Noah the Musical at Sight & Sound Theater has been postponed until May 15.

Singer Clay Cooper said his theater, which presents “Clay Cooper’s Country Express,” “Hot Rods and High Heels,” “No. 1 Hits of the 60s” and “The Haygoods,” will close at least until April 18.

“We have had several phone calls asking how to help the theatres in town,” Cooper said on his website. “We appreciate your concern. If you had a trip planned to Branson during this time and many of your events have postponed, please consider rescheduling your trip for the summer or fall instead of canceling.  We hope to be back on stage soon.”

“In the 28 year history of our show, we have never canceled a performance,” the Haygood family said in a statement. “But the health and safety of our guests and staff are of the utmost importance to us. We know this situation will be temporary and we are looking forward to being back on stage, to see all of our fans, and to once again celebrate the best of times together.”

Stage Entertainment has suspended shows of “Legends in Concert” at the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater. They have also canceled shows in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Foley, Alabama; Las Vegas, Nevada; and aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines

The Branson Elvis Festival, originally set for April 1-5, was postponed to a later date.

SIX, which is performed at the Bandstand Theater, suspended its show.

The Andy Williams Performing Arts Center and Theatre has delayed it scheduled opening.
