State Sen. Nathan Dahm is ready to tackle some key issues when the Oklahoma Legislature reconvenes in February.

Dahm, a conservative Republican from Broken Arrow, for several years had his conservative bills pass the House and Senate only to be vetoed by ex-Gov. Mary Fallin – an establishment Republican who did the bidding of the chamber of commerce.

Now, with Gov. Kevin Stitt – also a true conservative – in office, Dahm’s popular bills will have a great chance of passage.

Some examples are:

Senate Bill 1459

This would stop state and agency funding for any city or county that adopted a sanctuary policy in violation of state and federal laws. Oklahoma must cooperate with federal officials when it comes to enforcement of immigration policy.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 7

This would name 2020 the “Year of the Bible” in Oklahoma. Much of our government structure and our legal system is based on principles from the Bible. This already has widespread support.

Senate Bill 1384

This would allow the state to issue “Make America Great” and “Keep America Great” license plates. This should be the sentiment of all Americans regardless of politics.

Senate Bill 1264

Some jurisdictions have policies that instruct law enforcement to write a certain amount of traffic citations or a particular level of revenue. The goal should be safety in driving, not in generating revenue from oppressive fines.

These are just some of Dahm’s bills. His leadership is making a real difference in Oklahoma politics.
