Can we abolish abortion in America?

The answer is yes.

The State of Missouri is in a court battle to close the last remaining abortion clinic in that state, a clinic run by Planned Parenthood, the biggest abortion machine in America.

At issue was a state license that expired May 31. Losing the license would not stop Planned Parenthood from providing other services but it would put a screeching halt to abortions in Missouri.

Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region has facilitated the death of unborn babies for more than 20 years. They filed suit against Missouri Gov. Michael Parson and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. which administers the license the clinic needs. A judge gave them a temporaroy restraining order against the state, in order to avoid the disruption of services.

On May 24, Gov. Parson signed a bill that banned all abortions at eight weeks of pregnancy with the exception of cases of rape and incest. A patient complained about the clinic and a state inspection uncovered numerous violations. Those violations stopped the renewal of the license. According to state law, the doctor who signs a patient’s consent form is the only one who can perform an abortion. Also, abortionists aren’t doing the state-mandated pelvic exams.

I hope this ends abortion in Missouri but it probably won’t. Abortion needs to be abolished.

In Georgia, Netflix is threatening to end its productions in that state because of new laws to restrict abortion. This boycott is mostly a threat because Netflix films in Georgia mostly because of tax incentives.

Netflix films Stranger Things and Ozark are filmed in Georgia. (You would think they would film Ozark in the Ozarks).

The Georgia governor on May 7 signed the “fetal heartbeat” bill which prohibits the killing of any unborn child if a heartbeat can be detected. The bill will take effect in January but Planned Parenthood is planning a legal challenge.

In Louisiana, the governor (believe it or not a Democrat) will sign a similar heartbeat bill into law. That would end any abortion after about six weeks. Six states have passed similar restrictions on killing unborn babies.

In Alabama, a new law virtually bans abortion even in cases of rape and incest. It would put doctors who commit abortions in prison for up to 99 years.

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-California, a candidate for president, wants to put a stop to any state that tries to stop or slow down the slaughter of the unborn. If elected, she would push for a federal law that would force states to seek permission from the Justice Department before implementing new laws.

Of course, that would be unconstitutional because of the 10th Amendment.

So, where is Oklahoma in all of this?

First, Oklahoma has been called the “most pro-life” state in the nation. That’s because most Oklahomans are opposed to abortion and want it stopped. Abortion is against the law in Oklahoma – the only exception is when it is done by a licensed doctor. The state has four abortion clinics – one in Tulsa and three in the Oklahoma City/Norman areas.

Three years ago, State Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, wrote a bill that would strip away the medical license of any doctor who commits an abortion. States – not the federal government – control the issuance of licenses. This bill easily passed the Oklahoma House and Senate.

It was vetoed by ex-Gov. Mary Fallin late in the session so there could be no override vote.

This year, State Sen. Joseph Silk, R-Broken Bow, introduced a bill to abolish abortion in Oklahoma This bill was killed in committee. The Republican leaders of the House and Senate did not want a single vote on that bill. They argued that if passed, it would be overturned by the liberal Oklahoma Supreme Court and that’s true. But Gov. Kevin Stitt vowed to sign any pro-life bills and if a new law had been passed and signed, there would have been an appeal that could have eventually reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

Oklahoma could have been a leader in the fight to end abortion but our leaders failed us. Again.

Establishment Republicans are scared to death of this new wave of resistance to the legalized killing of unborn babies.

Most Democrats who are pro-abortion are incensed that women aren’t allowed to kill their babies right up to the point of birth (and perhaps right after birth).

President Trump wants Roe v. Wade overturned and he wants each state to decide this issue. That won’t end the problem but it would severely cut down the count of dead babies.

Life is a gift from God. Women and doctors should not have the power of life and death over the unborn.

It’s heartening to see the rising support for abolishing abortion.

Young lives are at stake.
