Shane Jemison will be named Interim State Party Chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party (OKGOP). Jemison was appointed to the position following the resignation of State Chairman John Bennett, who is running for Congress in the Second District.

Jemison will be fulfilling the role and duties of OKGOP State Chairman for a maximum of 60 days.  Jemison worked as a congressional staffer for former U.S. Congressman Steve Russell. Jemison is the youngest serving OKGOP chairman since Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell held the position in 2010. He is also the first Chickasaw Nation citizen to serve as OKGOP Chairman since U.S. Congressman Tom Cole served as State Chairman during the 1980s.

“It is important, now more than ever, that we have strong, conservative leadership in our communities,” said Jemison. “I look forward to serving the Oklahoma Republican Party in this new role as we continue to share our winning message of limited government, lower taxes, and individual freedom across the Sooner State and give generations of Oklahomans a brighter, more prosperous future in all 77 counties.”

The OKGOP State Party Chairman serves as the primary representative and ambassador for over 1.1 million registered Republican voters in the Sooner State.
