On May 3, some students in Oklahoma will go on strike from school to protest the government’s alleged failure to take action to “stop climate change.” Organizers plan to gather to strike in Oklahoma City.
According to a press release, “Political leaders in Oklahoma and around the world have failed to prioritize — and in some cases even acknowledge — climate change. Their delay had brought about a climate crisis: According to the United Nations, there are only 11 years left to reverse the worst effects of climate change.”
Their demands include new state and local laws and adoption of the “Green New Deal.”
The protest will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma City Hall. The protest is being sponsored by the Oklahoma Chapter of the Sierra Club.
