OU Wins Thriller at Arkansas
Arkansas went cold down the stretch as the Oklahoma Sooners rallied for a 65-62 win in Fayetteville Saturday night.
The Sooners’ Jalon Moore made the first of two free throws with 1:15 remaining giving OU a one-point lead. He followed that up with a fastbreak dunk in the final second, to seal the win. In the meantime, the Razorbacks went scoreless over the final 2:13.
With the win, OU improved to 15-4 overall, 2-4 in the Southeastern Conference, and Arkansas is now 12-8, 1-6 SEC.
The Sooners were led by Jeremiah Fears who made 4-of-8 shots from the field and all seven free throws for 16 points. Moore added 13 points and six rebounds for OU.
Arkansas was led by Johnell Davis who had 18 points on 5-for-16 shooting to lead the Razorbacks who are in their first season under head coach John Calipari. D.J. Wagner added 13 points and five assists.
Brycen Goodine scored all nine of his points on 3-for-4 shooting from 3-point range to help Oklahoma take a 35-31 lead into halftime. As a team, the Sooners were 7-of-16 from three-point range in the first half, went 0-for-5 from behind the arc in the second half.
Arkansas took the lead at 50-44 midway through the second half, before the Sooners closed out the game outscoring the Razorbacks, 21-12 in the final 9:33. OU outrebounded Arkansas 35-29.
This was OU’s first win at Bud Walton Arena since the 2001-02 Final Four squad posted a 69-54 triumph.
Oklahoma will be home to host Vanderbilt on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:30 p.m.
