No. 21 ranked Texas Tech took two-out-of-three games against the Oklahoma Sooners in the weekend series at L. Dale Mitchell Park, in Norman.

In Friday night’s opener, Jackson Nicklaus recorded three RBI and forced the game to extra innings with a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, tied 6-6.

Texas Tech scored seven runs in the top of the 10th innings, while the Sooners managed to get one run across in the bottom half of the inning, as the Red Raiders defeat OU, 13-7.

The Red Raiders seven runs in the 10th came on a pair of singles, a bases loaded walk and a grand slam.

The Sooners used seven pitchers in the game, even though starter James Hitt pitched 6.1 innings and allowed only three earned runs with a pair of strikeouts.

Oklahoma dropped the second game the weekend set to Texas Tech 9-5, on Saturday.

The Red Raider offense exploded for five runs in the third. With one out, Texas Tech tallied back-to-back walks and a bunt single to load the bases. Kevin Bazzell laced a single to left that plated one run and another run crossed the plate on an error. Following another walk, a single up the middle scored two.

The Sooners took control of the final game of the series on Sunday, as junior right fielder Bryce Madron and sophomore second baseman Jackson Nicklaus teamed up for three home runs, leading OU to a 12-2 run-rule victory in eight innings, over Texas Tech.

Nicklaus put the Sooners on the board in the second inning behind a two-run blast. The Sooner added to the tally in the next inning on a solo home run by Madron.

Oklahoma held a 3-1 advantage after four and opened the contest with four runs in the fifth.

Nicklaus added to his RBI total in the seventh on a double to left center that cleared the bases.

After Texas Tech narrowed the Sooners advantage to eight, Madron ended the contest with a two-run homer to right in the bottom of the eighth.

Nickalus finished the series 6 for 10 at the plate with a team-best 11 RBI.

OU is now 19-18 overall and 4-8 in the Big 12, while Texas Tech has a record of 25-12 (6-6 Big 12).
