The Tulsa Beacon was on printed Tuesday night while some races were too close to call.
In the race for governor, Republican Kevin Stitt defeated Democrat Drew Edmondson and Libertarian Chris Powell.
Stitt, a highly successful businessman, had never run for public office before. Edmondson, part of a Democrat family involved in state politics for decades, was a former state attorney general.
In the First Congressional District, political newcomer Kevin Hern, a Republican, beat Democrat Tim Gilpin for the seat last held by former U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine.
Hern sought the coattails of President Trump – another businessman who had never before held public office.
Republican Matt Pinnell beat Democrat Anastasia Pittman and Independent Ivan Holmes. Pinnell is the former chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party
Republican Cindy Byrd was elected state auditor and inspector after defeating Libertarian John Yeutter.
Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter, a Republican, was re-elected over Democrat Mark Myles. Hunter was appointed attorney general after the resignation of Scott Pruitt, who took a job as administrator of the EPA in the Trump administration.
In an open seat, Republican Randy McDaniel beat Democrat Charles De Coune in the race for state treasurer.
State School Superintendent Joy Hofmeister, a registered Republican, won re-election by beating Democrat John Cox and Independent Larry Huff.
The state commissioner of labor seat was open due to term limits and Leslie Osborn, a registered Republican, beat Democrat Fred Dorrell and Independent Brandt Dismukes.
Republican Glen Mulready beat Democrat Kimberly Fobbs in the race for state insurance commissioner, also an open seat due to term limits.
Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Bob Anthony was re-elected over Democrat Ashley Nicole McCray and Independent Jackie Short.
In the races for Tulsa City Council, Crista Patrick won in District 3; District 4 District 5 were too close to call; and Lori Decter Wright won the District 7 race.
Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler, a Republican, was re-elected over Democrat Jenny Proehl-Day. In the race for the open seat on the Tulsa County Commission (District 1), Republican Stan Sallee defeated Democrat Kevin Matthews.
The winners in Tulsa County District Court judgeships were:
- Judge Caroline Wall over Tom Sawyer
- Judge Sharon K. Holmes over Blake Shipley
- Tracy Priddy over Judge Jim Caputo
- Judge Linda Morrissey over Christopher Uric Brecht-Smith
- Martha Rupp Carter over Rick Westcott
- Judge Cliff Smith over Brian Crain
On the statewide votes for judicial retention on the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Justices Patrick Wyrick, Noma Gurich, Yvonne Kauger and James Edmondson were retained. On the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, Judges Dana Kuehn, Scott Rowland and David B. Lewis were retained. In the vote for the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals, Judges Barbara Swinton, E. Bay Mitchell, Robert Bell, Kenneth Buettner and Brian Jack Goree were retained.
In area State Senate races, Republican James Leewright beat Democrat Rick Parris in District 12; Republican Sen. Kim David was re-elected in District 18 over Democrat Charles Arnall, and the race between Republican John Haste beat Democrat Bryan O’Brien in District 36.

- State Question 793 which concerned retail setting for optometrists and failed
- State Question 794 which gives rights for the victims of crimes passed easily.
- State Question 798 which would have candidates for governor and lieutenant governor run as a team failed.
- State Question 800 which would create a new fund from energy taxes was defeated.
- State Question 801 which would allow school districts to use property taxes for general fund purposes was defeated.
