In the race for the District 7 seat on the Tulsa School Board, Susan Bryant Lamkin got 1,836 votes (48%) and former Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris received 1,766 (46%) to force a runoff on April 5.
The other District 7 candidates were Ellen Fuller (120 votes) and Junegrid Baker (49 votes).
Incumbent Steve Majors did not run for re-election in Zone 2 of the Broken Arrow School District. Debbie Taylor received 415 of the 803 votes cast on February 8 and was elected over Robyn Havener, George Ghesquire and JW Berry.
Only 12 votes (483-471) separated Dr. Chris McNeil and Shelley Gwartney in the race for the Zone 2 seat on the Union School Board on February 8. They will meet in a runoff. Former Union school board President Derek Rader was third with 95 votes.
Bixby School patrons approved two bond propositions that will raise property taxes by $114,000,000.00. Both passed by about a 4-to-1 margin.
Bixby municipal voters OKed a bond issue for a civic auditorium.
Voters in the Jenks School District approved about $14 million in bonds for two propositions. Both passed with more than 77% approval.
Catoosa voters approved a $52 million bond package with 80.28% of the 943 votes cast.
The April 5 general election will also have school board races that include Seats No. 2 in the Bixby, Jenks, Mounds, Owasso and Sand Springs districts; Seat No. 4 with Catoosa Public Schools; Seat No. 3 with the Tulsa Technology Center’s Board of Education; and District 4 for TPS.
The licensing vote between the City of Tulsa and PSO also passed easily.
