I have been very distraught about the trash in our city, and especially in the park across from our house. My husband and I try to keep it picked up, but every day there is more.

We had noticed the last few days that someone was picking it up. We had no idea who it could be.

This morning, as I was looking out  my kitchen window, I saw a man with a large trash can and he was picking up the trash! My husband went out to thank him. It was one of the men who plays tennis every morning. My joy knows no bounds.

I had put up a sign several weeks ago, stating that we are trying so hard to maintain our “Magic Circle Neighborhood” (my husband has served as president since 1998). What a glorious response!

Then, another one of the men came over to take pictures of my tulips and phlox.

These men have played tennis here for several years – a majority of them are Vietnamese. He told me that my flowers make him happy and he was sending the pictures to his Homeland. He made me happy today.

Years and years ago, when the Vietnamese were fleeing to us, we had a tiny part in helping a few precious people to get settled. They all have been productive and made our City of Tulsa better. His coming over to say what he did was an amazing blessing. We are growing old, and it seems as this happens that we begin to wonder if we have accomplished much in this world.

This morning was a validation of joy that investing and loving people brings rewards. I am grateful to our Lord God for His amazing works.

P.S. These men are not the ones polluting our park – it is people who come and park, eat, throw out their food, beer bottles, diapers, water bottles, candy wrappers, condoms and everything else you can imagine.

(Tulsa Beacon Editor) Charles (Biggs), perhaps you recall $1000 fine for littering when we were young?

Thank you and your family for the great effort you give every week to keep us informed of truth. We appreciate you.
