TULSA, Okla. –– The American Athletic Conference announced its 2024-25 men’s basketball pairings for the upcoming season. Conference play will run from Dec. 29, 2024, through May 9, 2025, ahead of the American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship (May 12-16), played inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Golden Hurricane will face 12 The American opponents. Of those 12, TU will play six teams twice, once at home and once away, and the other six will be split into three games in the Donald W. Reynolds Center and three on the road.

Tulsa will host Charlotte, East Carolina and Florida Atlantic in the Reynolds Center this year. TU only faced the Pirates and Owls on the road in 2023-24 and knocked off Charlotte at home in a tightly contested late February matchup. FAU is fresh off its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance but comes in with a new roster and a new head coach in John Jakus.

The Hurricane will make its first appearance in FedExForum in three seasons as Tulsa will play Memphis in a road-only game after back-to-back years of only playing in the Reynolds Center. TU will also face regular season tournament champions South Florida on the road, as well as make its first trip to North Texas since the Mean Green joined the conference.

TU will play home-and-home games against conference tournament champions UAB, Tulane, Wichita State, Rice, Temple and UTSA.

Head coach Eric Konkol enters his third season at the helm of the program after leading the Golden Hurricane to a 16-15 overall record with a 7-11 conference mark in 2023-24.

The Hurricane returns eight players from last season’s squad, including returning starters in senior Jared Garcia and junior Isaiah Barnes. Graduate guard Keaston Willis, whose season was cut short after two games due to injury, brings more than 1,600 and 300 3-pointers to the team. The American All-Freshman selections Tyshawn Archie and Matt Reed, as well as junior Jesaiah McWright return. All three played major roles off the bench last season.

The Golden Hurricane will welcome seven newcomers to this season’s squad, with a mixture of transfers and true freshmen.

The full 2024-25 season and conference schedule will release at a later date.
