What’s the difference in a Democrat administration or a Republican administration?

One telltale sign is gasoline prices.

In the past four years, gasoline prices under Republican President Donald Trump, gas prices in Tulsa have been around $2 a gallon. That is significant for several reasons. First, it cuts the cost of commuting for most Americans. Secondly, it lowers the cost of transporting goods and that translates to cheaper retail prices and greater supplies.

When energy prices are low and supplies are abundant, the economy prospers.

For most of the eight years of the Obama administration, gas prices were around or above $3 a gallon. That’s 50% higher than right now.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average cost of a gallon of gas in the United States was $3.26 in 2013; $3.36 in 2012; $3.28 in 2011 and $2.72 in 2010. You can blame those prices on Obama. On the other hand, the average cost of a gallon of gas under Trump has been $1.84 in 2020; $2.10 in 2019; $1.90 in 2018; and $2.07 in 2017.

Does a president determine the price of gasoline? No, but energy friendly policies lead to greater supply and lower prices.

Under Trump, America has become energy independent. In fact, the energy industry could soon be exporting significant amounts of energy, particularly clean-burning natural gas.

But that won’t occur with the Democrats in charge. Using scare tactics, they want to cripple the oil and natural industry and eliminate coal.

This year has been a financial disaster for many Americans. Raising the price of gasoline to $3, $4 or more a gallon would be a big blow to American families and their future.
