Did you ever wonder why it costs so much to build a road and wonder why the cost is out of this world?  Well, I certainly have but no more.  This road goes above our church so I get a very frequent update on the progress.  I’m speaking of Toll Road 344 which cuts across the city.

In the first place, you have to be a genius to build something that outstanding.  It’s worth it to travel on just to see it.  The tons of concrete, sand, various sizes of pebbles and rocks and then having a place to store it so it won’t be stolen.  Then there are all the lights, signs, and a hundred other things that go on or near a highway.  Trucks that have to haul things to and fro and they cannot just be there sitting and waiting day after day because that’s time and money.  Off ramps had to be built on to pre-existing streets not meant for this traffic so that has to be redone.

There were many trees that had to be cut down and hauled away.  A long walkway was built close to the old pre-existing road where people in the area could get in some daily walking.  This highway was built fairly high above our church and I don’t remember ever hearing of any debris that fell on our church.  I just barely touched the surface but the builder could not have done it alone.  He had to have good and dependable help.

Sincerely,

Virginia Schuering
