President Joe Biden continues to make predictions that he knows are not true and then he lies about it when the truth is inescapable.

Last year, he said the spike in inflation was “temporary.” It’s not. It’s grown to at least 9.1% (if it were accurately calculated, it would be closer to 17%).

He said he had no control over high gasoline prices. When prices dropped from $5 a gallon to about $4 a gallon, he claimed he should get the credit. (Selling off our federal fuel reserve – including oil to China – will only cause a temporary drop and it is dangerous to our national defense).

Biden said we would not have a recession.

And now the United States is officially in a recession.

In the July 28 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report, there is evidence that the economy is slowing down because of high inflation. The economy shrank in the second consecutive quarter in the spring for the second consecutive quarter. That meets the criteria for a recession.

High interest rates and inflation are forcing consumers and businesses to cut back on spending and production. GDP shrank .9% from April through June, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. Experts had predicted a .5% drop but that almost doubled.

Biden is blaming the Federal Reserve for raising interest rates, even though he agrees it should be done to slow inflation.

Biden said, “But even as we face historic global challenges, we are on the right path and we will come through this transition stronger and more secure.”

Biden said the job market is strong (unemployment is 3.6% and he claims consumer spending is “growing.” He wants Congress to increase spending by borrowing billions more.

“We’re not coming into recession, in my view,” Biden said in late July. “I don’t think we’re going to — God willing — I don’t think we’re going to see a recession.”

White House Council of Economic Advisers tried to change the definition of a recession, saying that two consecutive quarters of falling GDP doesn’t mean the country is in a recession.

“What is a recession? While some maintain that two consecutive quarters of falling real GDP constitute a recession, that is neither the official definition nor the way economists evaluate the state of the business cycle,” they stated.

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) may not confirm it immediately as it typically waits up to a year to call it.

More lies and “redefinitions.”

Biden takes credit for situations that he previously said he had no control over. And he will admit blame for the problems caused by his ultra-liberal policies..

The core problem is that Biden has surrendered to the most liberal factions in the Democrat Party and that means implementing the Green New Deal. That “deal” eliminates oil, natural gas and coal as energy sources. That may mean the end of nuclear power, too.

Add to that the complete opening of our southern border.

Estimates are that in his four years, Biden will have allowed the entry of nine million illegal immigrants through our borders.

This is putting a tremendous strain on our border states in terms of free medical service, free housing and free public education. It is so bad that even liberal mayors in Washington, D.C. and New York City are demanding more money from the federal government to deal with the expenses of taking care of these illegals.

And destroying the fossil fuel industry is hurting our balance of trade. Two years ago, before Biden, America was energy self-sufficient and was actually exporting oil.

Now, Biden has halted new leases for drilling, shut down pipelines and ordered new government regulations designed to end the exploration and production of oil, natural gas and coal.

Despite warning of global warming, Biden went to Saudi Arabia to beg the Saudis to increase production so the price of gas would drop to help Congressional Democrats in the November mid-term elections.

More lies.

How much more damage can Biden do the working families?

A recession hurts most people and it could lead to a depression. Biden, the Democrats and some Republicans are to blame for too much government borrowing and spending. It has to be paid for eventually – if not for us, for our children and grandchildren.

How do you weather a recession? Get rid of debt. Cut expenses. Take on extra work. Elect fiscal conservatives.

And pray that God will get us through this economic disaster.
