Today is said to be the “Age of Knowledge.” New things are being discovered almost every minute, and that new information is rapidly being electronically broadcast all around the world.
The things of old are being discarded – established traditions are now considered “old school” by more and more people. Modern thinking is believed to be more sophisticated, more exciting, and more enlightening. I once had a boss who actually told the newly hired MBAs, fresh out of college, to “not listen to the old-timers, they’ll only teach you bad habits.”
God’s Word in Proverbs 30 KJV tells us about this day we are living in:
11. There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. 12. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. 13. There is a generation, O How lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. 14. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
Have we become that generation? Look at some of the “leaders” people are choosing to represent them on the local school board and the city council. And look at some of the mayors, district attorneys, police chiefs and sheriffs that people have chosen to enforce (and sometimes not enforce) the law in their communities. In too many cases, it seems as though we are purposely turning our backs to the Lord.
When people choose to go that route, there will be serious consequences to pay. Here are some examples from God’s Word in Proverbs 28 KJV:
9. He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law [God’s Law], even his prayer shall be abomination. 10. Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit . . . 15. As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people . . . 17. A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him . . . 28. When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they [the wicked] perish, the righteous increase.
We must return to the Lord, and get right with God. God’s gift of salvation through Jesus, makes people right with God (see Romans 5:8-9 NCV). If you believe, and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will be right with God.
Do it today. Do not delay another moment.
