It seems like everyone I know has serious medical problems.

Some are of their own making while others are just a result of being on this planet for so many decades.

My  own list of medical professionals has skyrocketed. I have a family doctor, a chiropractor, a dentist, an oral surgeon, an orthopedic surgeon, a podiatrist, a physical therapist and a clinic that does colonoscopies.

My friends have hearing aids, they have diabetes, they have heart problems and they take multiple prescribed medications on a daily schedule. They are losing their hair as they lose the vigor of their youth.

That’s a lot of help for numerous problems.

Some people are scared to death of the Chinese coronavirus. They are in an age category that is particularly vulnerable and they have other medical issues that put them at high.

I have friends who are having difficulties with their grown children. Some have lost jobs. Others have failed marriages. Some are in prison. Others have medical problems. They have morality issues. Some have stopped going to church. They have turned their backs on the faith they were introduced to in their youth.

These are some situations that would just break your heart as a parent.

People are worried about their finances, particularly in light of the pandemic. Some people have been furloughed and others were laid off. Some have lost their small business while others were forced into early retirement by economic malaise.

America’s debt load is unsustainable and you have to think that sometime soon the stock market is going to burst (maybe this summer?). So many retirees that used to have pensions now have portfolios in stock and they could go bust at some point.

Remember 2008?

Depression is a serious problem in our nation. According to a study by webmd.com, half of the people who survive the coronavirus suffer depression. Among more than 3,900 people who had COVID-19 surveyed between May 2020 and January 2021, 52% suffered symptoms of major depression.

Other studies showed the loss of taste and sense of small were connected to depression. Coronavirus patients had more headaches and that was linked to depression.

People who normally don’t battle depression are under siege.

President Biden is picking a fight with Vladimir Putin of Russia. Iran may have a nuclear bomb. North Korea is mad at America again. China is trying to take over the world.

Christians are being persecuted around the globe. It’s not really safe to travel because of the virus.

Congress is endorsing immorality. Taxes are on the rise. Marriage is in shambles. Major cities have riots. Racial tension is growing. The values of our Constitution are being erased by activist judges and crooked congressmen. The government wants to pay for the murder of unborn babies.

Wow. This is really a bleak picture.

There’s hope.

It is in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

What is the basis of that hope?

It is His resurrection.

Jesus died on the cross to take away the sins of the world. Had he stayed in that grave, it would have been a bleak situation. Was He the Son of God? He raised Lazarus from the dead – why couldn’t He come back to life?

He did.

Jesus rose on the third day. He visited His Disciples and hundreds of other people. He ascended into Heaven right after He promised to return.

There’s the hope.

Jesus is coming again. If you want genuine justice in this world, you will see it when He comes for His followers.

That promise of eternal life in Heaven really is enough motivation to wade through the difficulties and disappointments of this life.

Heaven is a wonderful place. It has unspeakable beauty. It is safe and peaceful. It will have our loved ones who passed before we did.

And the best part is that we will have direct fellowship with Jesus Christ and God.

Easter is not about bunny rabbits or eggs. It’s not about dressing up in new clothes or eating a big dinner.

Easter is about recognizing that Jesus is alive. He loves all and He reaches out for reconciliation for those who believe in Him and trust Him.

The worries of the world will fade in the light of Jesus.

This Easter, find a church that preaches the Gospel and teaches the Bible. Find a small group in that church and commit to be a part of that fellowship.

Your worries will fade. You will have the peace of Christ.

It’s up to you.
