Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan announced that he is retiring at the end of January.

Jordan was appointed as 39th Chief of the Tulsa Department by Mayor Dewey Bartlett on November 12, 2010. He served as interim chief from January 22, 2010.

Jordan first joined the Tulsa Police Department in 1969 and was one of the first SWAT team members in 1978.

Chief Jordan served as a regional commander of more than 1200 officers in Kosovo.

Jordan earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from The University of Phoenix. He received his associates degree from Connors State College and also attended The University of Tulsa.

Jordan directs all patrol, investigative and administrative operations of TPD. He has over thirty-nine years of law enforcement experience. Jordan is married to Mrs. Judy Dunlap Jordan. He has three adult children.

A search for his replacement has begun.

“I am incredibly grateful for Chief Chuck Jordan’s service to the Tulsa Police Department,” said Mayor G. T. Bynum, who will select a successor. “Chief Jordan started his time in this role in the midst of a massive layoff of over 100 officers during the Great Recession. He retires in the midst of the greatest surge in hiring in Tulsa Police Department history.”
