Unlike so many politicians, President Trump is determined to keep his campaign promises.

That’s refreshing.

Past presidents compromised at the drop of a hat. The late George H.W. Bush famously promised no new taxes (“Read my lips – no new taxes”) and then made a deal with the Democrats to raise taxes if they cut spending. The taxes went up but the spending cuts never materialized.

Obama supported traditional marriage when he ran in 2008. After his re-election in 2012, he promoted the legalization of homosexual marriage.

George W. Bush promised he would rein in entitlements but he didn’t. The list goes on and on.

Trump is not a politician. He is a pragmatic dealmaker. His goal is to see government work well and he has his finger of the pulse of ordinary people.

This doesn’t sit well with the Swamp in Washington, D.C. The U.S. House, now under the dubious leadership of ultra-liberal Nancy Pelosi, is going to fight Trump at every turn for at least two years. They do not want him to have even the slightest legislative victory – even if it is something good for Americans.

And the Establishment Republicans are equally combative as Trump tries to peel back the federal bureaucracy and make government more efficient.

America needs border security. Trump knows a wall on the southern border would be effective.

That’s what he promised and he’s trying his best to deliver.
