Oklahoma will play Tulsa in Tulsa in 2023 as part of a three-game series matching the Sooners and the Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa will host OU on September 16, 2023, while TU will make trips to Norman on August 31, 2030 and Sept. 3, 2033.

“We’re extremely excited to announce this new series with Oklahoma. When you have an opportunity to play one of the nation’s perennial powers in your home stadium and a school that garners a lot of attention in this part of the state, it’s a win-win for everyone,” said TU Athletic Director Derrick Gragg.

“We’re excited about another series with Tulsa,” said OU Athletic Director Joe Castiglione, who has watched the Sooners play nine games against TU since his arrival in Norman in 1998. “We have always had great respect for their school and football program, and are happy when we can play in front of our fans and alumni who live in the Tulsa area. It’s important to us to have a presence there whenever possible.”

They have played 28 times, including 13 times when OU has been ranked in Top 25. OU holds a 20-7-1 series lead.  The 2023 game will be the 11th time that the Sooners have played in Tulsa and the first since 2014. Other games played in Tulsa came in 1914, 1915, 1931, 1933, 1937, 1942, 1987, 2002 and 2007.

With the addition of Oklahoma to the schedule, TU will host six games in an eight-year span against Power 6 schools. Starting with OU in 2023, TU will host Oklahoma State in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030 and with Arkansas in 2027.

“Scheduling home games with Power 6 opponents is important to our football program, the university and the city of Tulsa, as well as the American Athletic Conference,” said Gragg. “We pinpointed these three schools as being important elements of future home schedules. The atmosphere that surrounds these games will be electric for our campus and the community.”
